Hi, Ret/Prot pally here, hybrids are fine, play what you want, you'll get told that you're useless a lot and find people who won't invite you to groups but that's usually by old-skool dinosaurs who want to bully you into healing them while they have their fun. You need to go in prepared with consumables and play well if you're going to be a non-standard role but I'm having no trouble contributing solid damage while offtanking/offhealing when needed. The biggest factor for DPS is always awareness, positioning and uptime anyway, not class or spec.

If you're having trouble, just group with other hybrids ;)

1) It takes time, blood, sweat and tears to get to lvl60.
2) You will die questing... this is not easy pandaland anymore.
3) Getting levels gives E-peen, unlike getting lvl100 in retail. Getting lvl60 is something to be proud of.
4) You will be ganked, tons of time. You will therefor lose hours and hours while questing. Don't let it get to you.
5) If you dont mind all the previous points, you will have the best gaming experience you ever had. You will see why people miss vanilla and why this server is the best thing ever happened for any wow gamer in the last 10 years.

"Classic WoW" is a broad phrase that doesn't have a specific definition. It means different things to different people. Some people think of "Classic WoW" as the original game that launched in 2004 up to just before the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, was launched in 2007. Other people think of "Classic WoW" as the original game and first two expansions collectively: World of Warcraft, WoW: The Burning Crusade, and WoW: Wrath of the Lich King, before sweeping changes were made towards the end of WotLK/launch of Cataclysm and the game was revamped permanently. It's also the name Nostalrius chose when designing their installer: "World of Warcraft Classic."

"Vanilla WoW" specifically refers to the first entry in the WoW series before any expansions were launched. It is WoW from patches 1.1.0 to 1.12.1. The phrase is derived from the computing term "vanilla software" when referring to a program or hardware in its original state and not having been customized or changed yet, hence, the original World of Warcraft before any expansions changed the game.
