Choosing a Class

by blackberries » Wed Apr 29, 2015 3:39 am

Hey guys. I've been researching wow vanilla private servers and have decided to make nostalrius my home. I have decided I am going to play alliance, since there are so many horde players. I'm excited about instant BG queues! Anyways I'm having difficultly deciding what class I want to play. Here are all the options I'm considering:
Dwarf Priest
Dwarf Hunter
Dwarf Paladin
Dwarf Rogue
Night Elf Druid
Gnome Warlock

I've always liked Dwarves and stone form seems like it will come in handy with the high number of rogues on the server. I'm having a tough time deciding. I've been leaning towards a healing class, but I also like having a pet for a tank while leveling. I also am thinking about rolling rogue due to the high numbers of gankers. At least with a rogue I'd have a chance of escaping. Please tell me what you guys think. Any input is appreciated.

Even picking DK wouldn't help you against ?? gankers.

Dwarf Priest or Gnome Warlock best option.

I don't think you understand why this is called the suggestion forum.

With that said, I would recommend a priest or warlock, as they're always in high demand.

Rogue population is huge. If you intend to raid, I would suggest against it.

For leveling purposes, rogue is the way to go. You can get some quest objectives done while other classes are forced to log out. However, rogue is easily the most over-represented class on the server (there are probably enough UD rogues to form a separate faction by themselves). So you might want to level a couple of toons - one rogue and one hybrid. Say druid or pally. The hybrid will have no trouble getting into 5 mans as a healer and later into 60 raids, and the rogue will give you another toon to level when the hybrid has been ganked and his quest zone is unplayable due to higher levels griefing.

Also, due to growing faction imbalance you might want to roll Horde.

If anything, he should roll Alliance to balance it out and not make it worse...

Rolling horde will only make the problem worse. And you won't get the best/fastest rate of honor at this point.

Haha, yeah that's my bad. I didn't even think about what subforum I was browsing when I decided to post this.

I'm not going to be able to start playing until tomorrow night at the earliest (that's if all my PC parts come in by their expected shipping date). Anyway I'm leaning towards a healing class. I've played every class to ~40 in vanilla besides warlock and paladin, which make me want to roll a paladin. I don't know I'll probably end up flipping a coin.

Warlock and Hunter will be the easiest to level by far, having a pet to tank mobs for you makes a huge difference.

I would suggest a priest, or maybe a paladin. But Priest is semi-easy to level (as shadow) and you will be able to get into groups very quick as a healer from levels 15-50.

But in all honestly, theres no rush... Why not try out 3-4 class/race combos and get each of them to level 10-12 to see what you enjoy the most.

Also rolling Alliance is not a bad idea, but you need to prepare to be ganked A LOT when you are level 45+

Priest is not terrible if a little slow on occassion. (Granted I'm leveling holy). I find in general people are often very willing to party with me when I can't handle a quest on my own and getting in to dungeon groups quickly is great. I chose night elf and I swear by shadowmeld, particularly in STV, but dwarf is a really solid choice raidwise.
