Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I never played in Vanilla WoW so I don't know if I have to be in a party or not. Basically I see the yellow exclamation point on an NPC but when I hover over them I get the white chat bubble and when I click nothing happens. The NPC only talks and I get no quest box. I also can't chat in /1 General so I'm assuming I'm restricted for some reason? I just made an account and got no confirmation e-mail so I don't know what to do.

You have to right click the NPC. There was no left-click to interact enabled by default back then. You can chat in General once you are a certain level (maybe 3, or 5. I don't remember exactly)
