Hey, I'm new to WoW, and was wondering how I should decide what class to play. Also if possible, I would like to play with some peeps so I don't get too lonely  Thanks for reading!

When picking a class, always be sure to make up your mind first if you want to focus on casual or hardcore gameplay and if you want to compete in pve or pvp. For exemple its easy to dps as shaman in a casual pve guild but a halfway serious guild would require you to heal with that class or at least mainheal and offdps.

Check which specialisations for which classes are viable in pve and pvp, you dont want to end up as balance druid dps that you love to play but you would also love to raid! Doesnt really go together in most guilds :). Make up your mind if you want to be a melee dps, a tank, a healer, what kind of healer, maintank healer or raidhealer or maybe a caster dps or a hunter, would you like to be a support class like spriest or offtank. Would you want to play a subpar spec in a casual guild or a pure spec in a guild with further progression. If pvp there go the same questions again.

If you want to take it to the limit from the start, check class-race combinations since all races have racial abilities, for exemple tauren have a stun and more health therefore they are preferred as warrior tanks, orcs have better weapon skill and an attack power bonus racial, therefore warrior damage dealer prefer this race. But its only the last bit of improvement, a bad orc warrior would never beat a good tauren. Play what you visially like first of all.
