Why do you play?

by balobod » Fri Oct 09, 2015 2:41 pm

I have been trying very hard to get into Vanilla WOW.
Its a great game, but my only problem is probably my lack of knowledge.
I know I have to put in alot of time to progress, and its a hard journey, and everyone loves it.
How is the end game like? Do I need to spend 6+hours a day to get gear/progress?
How is the community like?
How can I enjoy the game, and not worry about end game?

I play because I never got to experience retail vanilla and always thought it seemed like a lot of fun, which it is. I also have way too much free time, which is very helpful for such a grindy game. Leveling takes ages, grinding gear takes ages etc and is very hard if you only have a few hours per day to play. The community is like any other internet community, WoW is full of dickheads but when you get into a guild with nice people it doesn't matter. It's very possible to just enjoy the leveling experience and not worrying about raiding and having the best gear available, just keep playing if you're enjoying it and take a break or quit if it doesnt feel fun anymore :>

I play because this was the game that I loved since February 11 th 2005 and felt that something died after the sucessive expansions, not saying that all were bad, but I must admit that since Wrath of the Lych King i lost most of the interest on the game. I tried Nostalrius thinking that i would just give up, entering a laggy and buggy vanilla and was quite happily surprised to see myself hooked again on the original wow, i'm just marveled as I feel being back to those days, happy to play a game i once devoted all my spare time.

For the team of nostalrius my gratitude for making me feel happy while playing this game again.
