Class selection

by Ikkon » Thu Nov 26, 2015 4:29 pm

Hello out there..

I'm new this this server and been looking around for a post with the class popularity.. So far I havn't found any..
I have been on Feenix servers for a time where it was tanks and healers which was in high stake.. Is it the same here, or are every classes split evenly so it doesnt matter and you will have "ease" to join random dungeons, pugs and so on?

Regards /Ikkon..

Mostly tanks are needed, there's plenty of healers and dps from what I've seen, tanks are somewhat hard to find.

How about a Tank Pally? I come from WotLK where Pallies were absolute beasts but I keep reading around here that Prot/Ret Pallies got completely bent over in Vanilla and only Holy is desired for raiding.

Do I HAVE to be a Warrior/Druid if I want to Raid Tank? A Prot Paladin absolutely cannot get away with main tanking raid mobs/bosses?

OP, there are lota of DPS floating around so if you go tank or heals you will find groups easier. But play whichever class you will enjoy, dont roll a class based on needs. Thats how people get burned out.

No, raiding guilds will not take a prot pally to maintank a raid. Prot pallies were probably the worst main tanks in vanilla, because they have no taunt and rely on mana to generate threat. Long fights they fizzle out. Prot pallies are great aoe tanks for trash, and can tank 5 man dungeons. However, druids and especially warriors can tank a lot better. The reason for this is reliance on mana, and bad itemization. Also, on nost there are bugs that hurt our damage (holy resistance, concencrates dont stack, ect) and this makes it even harder to generate good threat.

Pallies are fine in 5 man instances, or for offtanking, however their threat generation is kinda low, that changed later on(tbc, wotlk...), druids are mostly used for raid healing and combat ress, so if you want to tank raid bosses roll warrior, tank heal roll pally, grp heal roll druid, dps roll anything else...Also in my opinion paladins were strongest in wotlk, however in vanilla hybrid classes are used for healing, they were given more options with each expansion...

I played a pally briefly in vanilla (only to lvl 20), but I do remember them having a taunt...albeit an awkward one where you had to target the player who aggroed, instead of the mob.
