Just a question

I know that this question is probably asked a lot but I just needed a confirmation that if I play on Nostalrius, will my retail account get banned, I've heard from the official WoW forms that I can get perma banned and that Blizz look though the WoW folders and if they find any 3rd party software I can get banned.

I don't believe this but I just want confirmation as I really want to play Vanilla WoW as I started in Cata and I missed all the original zones and quests and the overall more social aspects of WoW

Thanks for any replies!

Greetings and welcome to Nostalrius!

By playing on a private server, you as a player, do not commit any crimes. Blizzard has not, to my knowledge, ever banned the retail accounts of anyone playing on a private server for that reason. The clients are separate from each other. Only thing that can happen is that your Battle.net client, if allowed to scan your hard drives freely, finds an incredibly old wow client that it then wants to update to whatever the current patch version is. Some of our players play retail and on Nostalrius simultaneously and we have not had any reports from them of any sort of issues.

TL:DR don't believe gossip, it's safe to play.
