Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Okay so I dont have any sounds what so ever. When I start the client it makes some sort of error sound. No other problems but I cant get any sound out of the game. Obvs things that might have caused it that I have checked:
1. Yes, I have working sound system D
2. Game is not muted on the mixer.
3. Sound files exist.

Try pressing Ctrl-S and Ctrl-M.

Double check in-game volume control.

You don't have headphones plugged in by accident?

No help with those commands.
And in-game volume set to max aswell. All other sounds on my pc working fine as I said earlier so yeah I have headphones plugged in.

Ctrl-S and Ctrl-M disable/enable sound effects and music by default and it's quite possible to accidentally press them.

Dunno what else could be causing it if everything else works. I'm pretty sure that it isn't possible in vanilla settings to specify the output device either, so that can't be it.

Is the playback device that you want the game's sound to come out of set as the default playback device?

Yes it is. Seems like sound files are broken or something. Client is downloaded via torrent that is in the Beginners guide thread. Might try reinstallation someday.

Same problem here. also the installer from that site does not create a launcher or any game files. causing that you need to install it every single time you want to launch it. and no way to remove it because these file names i made it under do suddenly appear when i want to install it for the 8th time....

This seems wonky but...I found this on another site, person reporting problem said it worked:

Go into your sound settings in options and change the speaker it is playing through, to one of the other options, and then change it back to the correct one.

Also found this:

I managed to fix my problem by deleting dsound.dll.

If you haven't tried this yet, go to C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft (or wherever else you installed it to) and see if the dsound.dll file is present - if it is, delete it, because it's not needed on XP.

Hey i had similair problems with my sound and also some problems with installing. after i deinstalled my firewall the sound suddenly worked perfect. I'd suggest checking out your firewall. I was using the comodo firewall. i am reinstalling it today and see if it gives problems again after i installed the game correctly
