Hey there,

Name's Tom. I'm new to private servers, as I always sort of frowned upon the typical, "instant-max microtransaction funserver" aids-hives that make their way into the top-100 lists. (no offense to those of you who enjoy playing the instant-max microtransaction funserver aids hives  ) I recently decided to give this server a shot after a friend and I started to get bored of current WoD content. What made me come here was realizing just how quick we level new toons, and how much content we were skipping every time we leveled 3 times in a single pug instance.

A little backstory about myself:
I'm an 18 year old WoW vet playing since late 06. Elementary school friend got me to switch from Runescape. Made a 10-day trial account and rolled a nelf hunter "because you get to have any pet you want and shoot guns." The rest is history...super complicated history that would take a 5-book series to properly document. Shit was fun, and I was instantly hooked by the trial. Being a good boy and getting smiley-face stickers on my 1+1 homework, my parents subbed me as an early Christmas present. Again, I'm rambling. COMPLICATED HISTORY!

Anyhow, after doing a little research, I concluded that this is one of the best private servers for getting that awesome WoW feel again. The staff seems knowledgeable, the community seems lively, and the servers look like a lot of fun! I hope to see some of you in-game or on the forums soon.

You have MY welcome to this server, although on this forum I don't count for much. The vast majority of posters on this forum are on the PvP server and obsessed with max level. In that sense this forum is not that much different from the retail forum. The PvE server community, consisting of players who play on the PvE server but rarely post or read here, is mostly wonderful. If you avoid the high-logon times you won't get too many retail-style psychopaths telling you to hit alt-f4 in response to every question you ask, or spamming thunderfury jokes. You'll get many nice players who give away gear drops they can't use, buff you at random, join with you on quests that can't be soloed (because some quests in vanilla DO require groups), or even see you in trouble in a fight and just start helping you for no reason other than that you're all on the same side against the mobs. I think you'd like it there, so I encourage you to roll a toon there and give it a try.

One word of caution. Vanilla is designed for group play, and today's gaming is highly solo, so there is often competition for mobs and drops. It can take longer than you want to complete a quest simply because too many other ungrouped toons are on the same quest, and the supply of mobs and drops runs out before it respawns. But there is also no shortage of really friendly questers who will group up with you on a bottleneck quest so you both get the mobs or drops--and in some cases because the fight is very tough for just one toon. (You will see bunches of toon corpses in certain areas where people unaware of how challenging vanilla can be rushed in alone and got killed.)

(I reroll as soon as my toon dies and have rerolled dozens of dwarves, gnomes and humans in the past couple of months. So far I haven't gotten a toon past level 12, but all the experience is making my toons' survivability steadily higher. It's my idea of having fun :) )

Welcome and have fun! Make sure to read the rules. A lot of people get banned because they weren't aware of them, and confirmed bans are not lifted. If you think something is borderline, be safe and ask on the forums first.
