Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hi. I'm currently installing the Nostalrius client and while I'm waiting for that, I wanted to ask for some help with deciding which class I should play.

I played Vanilla WoW starting in early 2005 and played exclusively a Druid up until SSC in Burning Crusade. I never got another character above level 40 in all that time.

I want to try something new on Nostalrius. I dont remember a whole lot about Vanilla after having not played it in 11 years, and a lot of what I do remember is somewhat hazy thanks to how many changes have come to the game since then.

I'm not exactly picky in what I play, with two minor exceptions: I dont want to play a Druid, because I already experienced Vanilla as one way back in the day. I want something new. But I also dont want to pick a class that is currently flooding the server in such a degree that no one will ever want to group with me because "We already have 7 of them" or some such.

So my question is, which class (other than Druid) would be best to play if I dont want a drought of group invites? I know Priests are pretty much the go-to healer and Warriors are the standard tank and I'm not against playing either of those, but what other classes are in high demand for groups?

PvE realm seems to need ranged dd's. Only say that because I have had little to no issues getting into dungeon groups (on my Mage) and the ones asking for preferred dd's is always asking for ranged so I assume there are more melee but I could be wrong. Only level 21 currently on my mage so may change as levels progress.

Sorry I should have said, I would prefer to play on the PvP realm, Alliance-side. I might give PvE a try at some point though, so thanks for the info.

Like you say always need warrior tanks and priests however if you want to play something else. I usually always see a demand for Warlocks in groups. Pretty easy class to level and you don't have to worry about getting 100g for a mount at level 40.

I've recently rerolled hunter on the Alliance side and seen a fair few advertisements for needing hunters in groups too.

Warrior tank offers the best vanilla experience. you undertand the role healers and dps have and it gives you a more full appreciate of the game. An alt can always be a dps.

I'd say protection warriors, priests and warlocks. Can never have enough warlocks
