DPS often picked

by Desolace » Tue Apr 21, 2015 6:38 am

Hi, I'd like to go through the whole pve vanilla content. I don't really like heal spec, tank is ok but I don't want warrior so i'm forced to play as dps. Now is my question. What's the most picked non magic dps class for raids?

Rogue :oops:
Druid feral/balance :?:
Hunter :idea:
Paladin ret :lol:

Which one should I choose to have the highest chance to be picked for raids?

Rogue is the best dps of the four you mentioned but it's played a lot, hunter doesnt have a great dps but is necessary in raid, if you want to be picked take hunter, not a lot of people play it because of its low dps but you must have at least 2 per raid (optimal is 3 imo) for trankshots, traps, pull and control.

Druid feral/balance and paladin ret are not necessary to have in raid as their DPS is shit, it can be nice to have ONE per raid but some guilds dont even allow one considering "normal" DPS would be better.

Is there a particular reason you don't want to play warrior? I often hear people praise raid fury dps, and while leveling you'll fill the most essential group role in dungeons: tanking. You don't need to be prot spec to tank well in 5-mans. If you're a rogue, you're pretty much guaranteed to have your tank and every other non-cloth dps roll against you on every dps drop. As a warrior, you've got dibs on all plate drops, all tanky shields, and can also justify rolling on any usable weapon and dps gear, even if its leather or mail (preferably with warning to your hunters etc. before you start the dungeon).

Just a thought. I rolled hunter, because it's one of the few classes I never played to 60/70 back in the day, but if I were to make an alt I'd give warrior more than a little consideration.

I don't want warrior cuz there are too many on the server, almost everyone picks warrior, rogue or mage. I don't want to fuck with 50 complicated scripts, macros, switch stance etc. I really like warriors and usually all mele classes in many games but I really don't get the idea of warrior in wow, dunno why. I would rather choose a priest or mage than a warrior.

How you guys said, I'll probably pick hunter or rogue, there is not much choice ;d Or I'll convince myself to magic class ;_;

There is a reason why so many players go rogue/mage/warrior for DPS. They are the best.

While it does seem that there are too many warriors, I see "lf1m tank" as much or more than I see "lf1m healer". Additionally, the tank makes or breaks a group. You can often survive bad dps and even a bad healer with a good tank, but you can't survive a bad tank.

There's an argument to be made for raid itemization, since as a warrior you're going to get mostly tanking gear or have to compete with a lot of people for fury gear. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that.
