Level 60 Prot Build

Forego imp disarm, majority of pvpers are smart enough to have weapon chain or immune gloves. Those who dont are gonna die before it wears off.

Put more points for armor or imp over power and imp charge.

If you are going sword and board, I recommend rocking a viskag and an elementals deck trinket. This will greatly increase your limited damage from attacks. Gear, stack crit, shield block value and stam then agil > str.

I run impale spec and pop off 1k+ shield slams on leather/cloth, 700+ on mail.

You can be affective, if you play your role correctly.

Make yourself hard to kill when time to push, last stand / shield wall and charge and fear. People will panic and target you while your ranged dps pick people off. While this is going on, imp shield bash healers, concus blow other healers.

AB after the initial BS push, you are best served as a point defender as you can stay alive long enough for renforcements to arrive.

Flag carry is so so, never can compete with a druid, but if no druid, swap to max hp gear and hope for quick dispells.

AV, you will carry teams, just keep pushing.

How would you avoid getting blinded or sheeped or whatever while defending a node? Anyone with half brain won't target you in pvp.

Grave wrote:I haven't read every post, however I am seeing quite a few people suggesting Deep Wounds builds for raid tanks. No, just no. Why? Wasted debuff slot. Currently we're allowed 8, in Patch 1.7 it will be increased to 16. Even with 16, every decent raiding guild will have debuff slot control strategy in place; one for damage limitation fights and one for increased damage output fights. Hell, in the offensive 16 debuff slot strat, you can't even afford demo shout on the boss.

If you're worried about threat, get a 1.3/1.5 speed weapon, Alcor's is great, Finkle's will do the job too. Use hit % items in your itemization while keeping relatively close to the Def Cap (absolute cap is not necessary with this content), if your DPS is outperforming your 1.3 weapon - which shouldn't happen anyway unless you're rage starved or are using a 0% hit itemized set.

Anyway, there is a cookie cutter build for raids, with 2/3 talent points up to your leisure (whether you prefer imp HS or a few points more in TM), it has already been linked in the first page of this thread.

If you're playing horde side and your MT doesn't have impale well then god help you. Denying every warrior deep wounds is dumb, it takes up one debuff slot and is a huge boost to your top dpsers.

I would lose 3% Parry tho, could take the points from furytree-crit into parry or let it be like this?

Im an Orc so have already 25% stunresist, dont know if I should spec the 15% charm/stun resist??

Every warrior has their own deep wounds debuff actually, they generally push each other off, but you'll see 4-5 up sometimes when the debuff slots aren't optimized. Impale tanks are just not necessary. They also push off Nightfall.

To the pvp tank question: keep the stun resist, stacked with orc racial it is OP.

Losing 3 parry isnt a big deal. It is pvp, rogues will not try to pvp a shield carry warrior, as they do too little damage, and will only try to CC you. Arms warriors pretty much same thing.

You cant parry magic which is what you will be getting hit with the most.

To Grave: isnt necessary isnt a great arguement.

Alot of things are not "necessary" life onxyia/nef head buff, but it is nice. Imp shield wall isnt needed, but it is nice.

I am the only tank that runs 17/3/31 in guild and I take primary kill target as my TPS is much higher with out the need of using non def hit gear such as onslaught girdle and DFT. Though I do use Don ring until I get anAccura band.

Esenntially I can get a high enough threat cap for the dps rocking 3 hit, rather than 5 hit.

We run 2 soon 3 (one for each OT) nightfalls with icy. I do not see nightfall getting pushed off by deep wounds. Also Sunday 16 debuffs comes out. You describe seeing many deepwounds, that is true at the beginning of a figjt before prio debuffs are applied.

Ill stick to my 1k shield slams, as I feel they can be "necessary".

Deep wounds is a lower priority dot, so it will be removed by "stronger" dots/debuffs.
