Engineering for tanking

Engineering for tanking

Is engineering viable for tanks? or is it moslty a waste?

There's a nice epic shield and trinket for fire resistance. The repair bot seems useful as well, might save time.

I want to go blacksmithing and alch/eng. Pref eng for all the cool extra stuff but i'd rather have the one worth the most.

a lot of other people will be alchs. but unless you are an engineer, you dont get access to use or wear some of the items from engineering.

For ranking, only the shield for aoe tanking makes it worth it. FR trinkets= onxyia trink and blazing emblem a lvl 30 something BoE.

Alch allows you to keep raid consumes up at a cheaper cost as long as you AH snipe your mats.

On your main character ideally you have engi, since there are a shitloads of handy stuff to use in raids and it adds an extra aspect to the game.

However if you're just starting out you can take alchemy but most of the time it's preferred on a 2nd character. (I think minimum lvl to get 300 is 35?)

yes engy is worth it as a tank,
grenades for aoe pulls + force reactive is a no brainer.
you also get trinket reflectors for resist fights.

Nope. You need entry to bwl or scholo for the alch labs for flask. However, your money making and raid consumables can all be made at lvl 35. Guild alchemist can do the flask when needed.
