Cleave is useless as tank? we don't have any effective are threat skill unlike pala that can spam consecration and go afk... suppose in a trash are pull, how we hold agro if demo shout is bugged? challenging got terrible cd !
i was thinking something like this: start in battle stance, charge, thunderclap, go defensive (tactical mastery) +bloodrage>use demo shout+cleave
is wrong? sorry I'm new tank warrior seeking help ^_^
You will read that some tanks don't use cleave. I laugh. Had to dispute this with many other guild MTs.
This is a very useful tool, and you will have plenty of rage for it once you get geared and don't have the need for crowd control on instances like strat UD, or speed clearing BRD for people that need jail break.
Last night for example I ran Strat UD with 2 great mage dps from guild and a rogue. I used cleave almost the entire time, and would shield clam, revenge the primary target. If it was going down too fast to even try to get threat, just taunt it or concuss blow and continue to spam cleave and revenge/shield slam other targets.
5/8 T2 helps a lot with this as very often abilities take 5 less rage to do, and the set can proc per mob you hit. So a demo on 5 targets, 100% chance next move is 5 less rage. Each cleave hits two things so twice the chance for next cleave to only cost 15.
We were pulling Baron with 19 minutes on debuff, I never dropped below 210 dps until the abomination single pulls. To give a comparison, dps were around 300 - 350 depending on their mana, and what not. (speed run so they have to conserve a lil)
TL;DR: It is viable but you need to be aware of what is being hit and focus GCD threat moves on primary target or taunt or stun primary target and use GCD on next mob up. Often if revenge or shield slam is on CD, I'd rend the highest HP target to keep dps going.
