This is my first vanilla server, but I played a warrior from day 1 of bwl (after switching from priest which i played day1 of vanilla) all the way through naxx and never once did I hear anyone suggest that fury would be the best spec, and that was at a time where people understood why when you brought 8 or even 10 warriors on a raid
Every guild I spoke or kill vid I saw was the same, 6+ warriors on a raid maybe 1 fury, maybe.
So what has changed since then?
Ps: not saying it wasn't suggested back then, only I never noticed it
It probably has something to do with the fact that bloodthirst was only redesigned in later in vanilla. Before 1.6 it read:
Bloodthirst
Rank 0/1
Requires 30 points in Fury Talents
Requires 1 point in Death Wish
Activates after dealing a killing blow. Your next weapon attack deals 100% increased damage.
Which needless to say is garbage. Even after the current iteration was introduced in 1.6 it only did 30% of AP until it was buffed to 40% and then later 45%. Combine that with the fact that Shield Slam wasn't redesigned until 1.6 either:
Shield Discipline
Rank 0/1
Requires 30 points in Protection Talents
Requires 2 points in Improved Shield Bash
15 Rage
Instant45 sec cooldown
While active, increases the amount of damage absorbed by your shield by 50%. In addition, increases the damage done by your Shield Bash ability by 200% and the threat it causes by 100%. Lasts 20 sec.
Like bloodthirst, even after it was redesigned it wasn't buffed until much later. Well you can see why nobody even deviated from going MS with no more then 15 points in prot because the spec had literally the best that warriors could offer it the time and eliminated the need to respec for tanking etc. Also remember that MS was 200% weap damage in early vanilla and attack power wasn't normalized so that offered even more incentive to go MS with a super slow weap.
