Warrior 2H DPS Questions

Slam is still better than HS to deal damage.

Pretty much the same amount, but you loose 1.5s instead of an entire auto attack.

An instant strike is always better than Slam.

Slam is only an option with a slow 2h, perfect timing as to not break your auto attacks and if you remain stationairy during the fight which removes a good deal of raid boss fights too. Also, as HS convert a white hit into a yellow hit (special) it removes glancing from the hit table, thus making heroic strike a very VERY powerful damage-ability, assuming you've used all instant attacks, and got the rage to spare for it.

TLDR: Slam is bad, unless PERFECTLY used. Heroic strike is great if used without eating rage used for other abilities and not causing you to over-aggro.

2h DPS (as fury) is actually very viable when decked in BWL-gear and onward, even as Human. In early raiding though, not so much I'd say. 2h DPS as arms is ghastly though.

I doubt any guilds would take an arms warrior into raids, at least this early. There's currently 8 debuff slots, two would be lost just to deep wounds and MS. (You cant not take deep wounds, you need it for the 20% crit damage talent)

Deep wound isnt problem! It has low prio as debuff.

This is my first vanilla server, but I played a warrior from day 1 of bwl (after switching from priest which i played day1 of vanilla) all the way through naxx and never once did I hear anyone suggest that fury would be the best spec, and that was at a time where people understood why when you brought 8 or even 10 warriors on a raid

Every guild I spoke or kill vid I saw was the same, 6+ warriors on a raid maybe 1 fury, maybe.

So what has changed since then?

Ps: not saying it wasn't suggested back then, only I never noticed it

There's two main reasons.

1. Arms with MS means an additional debuff on boss that will take up a debuff slot meaning less over-all dps/utility against the boss. (Not counting the few occations where MS debuff actually might be a good thing).

2. Arms simply doesnt output the sustained high dps that fury does on boss fights even though it (may) compete on trash with sweeping strikes.

Side note: Warriors, or people as a whole these days are better informed than the noobs of yesterday. Also, people on these private servers tend to be those that also was successful back in retail vanilla meaning the knowledge about the game of the players here are on average higher than the average player of 2005.

Go fury and learn to clip slam, whit 3.80+ speed weapon you're gonna do more dmg that any other 2h setup. If you have problems timing slam get a swing timer. Your dps isn't gonna be amazing but the best that warriors can do whit prebis gear. I hope for you that you aren't in one of the "hardcore" guilds around, as their officials are usually very close minded and too dumb to understand that there are other viable and possibly better specs besides the one they've played for ages.
Infact retards are just retarded, doesn't really matter how many years is this game old, they don't have improved their knowledge of this game, they've just read some bullshit guide and took it as being the truth...
