Nice job pulling a random number out of your ass. There is DR on armor, however DR on actual damage reduction is non-existent. Just take into account relative damage reduction and you'll see that armor is just as good a stat regardless of how much you already have.

It's good, just that the more you get the less effective every point is - like with most stats. In the case of armor it actually has diminishing returns while other stats simply change in considered value depending on their value compared to other stats.

Theres a formula where u put in the maximum hit u got in one fight or raid, multiply it by two and add some health buffer. Then proceed investing in other stats like avoidance or negation.

Just google wow tank health formula

I am no tank, but dont hold on on ur formulas too much. I saw so many ppl that played way too "static" and just sucked in conclusion to others, that had more practice in what they were doing . Its not only the formulas counting. Its ur grp that does!

@Badtank, you claim hit >dodge, then why hit you make a NE? Swords/Maces skill is 3%hit on a raid boss. Compared to 1 dodge and small amount of base agi.

The fact of the matter is this, there is no, one gear best for all. Certain fights are best to max stam, some best for tps, some best for resist + stam, some mitiagation. And even self healing (julies dagger with life stealing, got hero trinking deck waiting).

In raid I have 3 weapons I use, 2 shields, 5 trinkets, 4 rings, 3 chest plates, you get the picture.

As long as you creatively think of the upcoming pull's biggest threat, and what gear is best to counter balance it, and can do remedial math, you will be fine.

Before I get bashed for self healing, this is for fights like dog tanking on golemag.

100 HP x 2. Plask and others have made great points. It is an obvious choice to those with tanking experience.

Simple prio: Def Cap (440) > HP > Avoidance. You may add threat factors (fast weapons, hit, crit) and armor mitigation later with more advanced gearing choices.

Oh man this explains a lot, you really don't know a lot about mechanics do you? There is most definitely a best set of gear for every fight but niche fights. Sword skill only effects glancing blows in a very meaningful way. Heroic Strike can't glance. Also self healing? Dude please stop while your ahead, you're digging a hole six feet deep.

305 is 3 hit. 310 is 4.2 ish. The 0.04 increases are only when you exceed a mobs defense which you do not do on a shull ie: lvl 63
