Jesus Christ we (the real warriors of this game) have explained this many times in different threads.

Explaining the wrong information in different threads is a great way to misinform the playerbase.

When a player or mob attacks a player, the chance is a base 5% plus 0.04% per rating difference.

When a player or other mob attacks a mob, the change in miss chance is 0.2% per rating difference if that rating difference is 11 or more. If the rating difference is 10 or less then the change in miss chance is 0.1% per point.

So if that is correct then the first 4 points of weapon skill above 300 are each worth 0.2% hit, then the 5th point is worth 1.2% hit by itself (to a total of 2.0%) because it changes the formula, then each point beyond that is worth 0.1% hit?

Not that this really matters to warriors but it's good to know.

Hey all, thanks for all of the great information here.

I'm new to Nostalrius and I'm curious about TPS weapons. I see that daggers are ideal because of HS spam, but what about while leveling? I'm only level 19 so I can't HS spam during fights. Should I still be looking for daggers?

Thanks in advance!

HS spam is only in raid situations, and even then not all fights.

For lvling 5 mans the faster the better, but it isnt for HS. You need to get an auto attack off asap to get your first Sunder armor. If you have a 2.5 speed weapon and get dodged blocked or miss, it will be 5 seconds befoe your second attempt to hit. God help you if you miss again.

A 1.5 speed weapon will give you 3 auto attack chances in 4.5 seconds. With the 2.5 delay weapon you only got 1 swing off in that time.

1.3 at low lvls if you can even find one may be too weak to generate the rage you need. 1.5-1.7 should be ideal to spam sunder and revenge.

You have an auto attack available at 0 seconds for all of these cases. Also, you are discounting the extra attacks that should be generated when you parry a mob's attack. But if you want to discount parry from the equation, in a span of the first 5 seconds in melee combat with a mob, you will get 4 auto attacks with a 1.5 speed weapon and 3 auto attacks from a 2.5 speed weapon.

It is also worthwhile to note that weapon type also matters for Heroic Strike threat since weapon normalization for attack power affects daggers differently than all the other 1-handed weapon types. This is why Blizzard began to introduce more fast 1-handed swords into PvE for tanking after Patch 1.8.0.

I wouldn't worry about weapon speed til you start raiding. While being able to cleave quicker is nice during dungeons, the only scenario when daggers are the best tanking weapons is when you are rage capped almost the entire time (which is actually pretty often). I'm still using quel'serrar which a little slow but since threat isn't an issue in MC, though i got a finkles skinner in the bank for BWL.

Dear god, weapon skill discussion again. When will people take the minutes and google a good read on this?

Against a boss, 305 weapon skill will equal 2% more hit for you, while every point after that is 0,04. Also, note that the base miss value in both formulas differ (Anyways read up on it before doing a discussion, idd how many times I linked that shit).

0.04 is when you exceed a mobs def rating. Again. 0.04 is when you exceed a mobs def rating. Again. 0.04 is when you exceed a mobs def rating.

You do not exceed a mobs def rating on a lvl 63/skull until you have 316. The 316th point is when it is a very small increase.

Again. 0.04 is when you exceed a mobs def rating.

If your weapon skill EXCEEDS the mob's Defense skill, i.e. if the mob is lower level than you are:
◾ The base chance for your attack to miss the mob is 5% - (Weapon Skill - Defense Skill) * 0.04%.
◾ The base chance for your attack to be a critical strike is 5% + (Weapon Skill - Defense Skill) * 0.04%.
◾ The base chance for your attack to be dodged by the mob is 5% - (Weapon Skill - Defense Skill) * 0.04%.
◾ The base chance for your attack to be parried by the mob is 5% - (Weapon Skill - Defense Skill) * 0.04%.
◾ The base chance for your attack to be blocked by the mob is 5% - (Weapon Skill - Defense Skill) * 0.04%.

Again this is when it exceeds.
