Low Level Tanking

So I've seen in various Warrior leveling posts that, when leveling, a Warrior can tank as any spec and even with a 2H weapon.

As someone that never tanked until WoTLK, this sends off all kinds of alarms since as far as I was aware it was a joke to try to tank as anything other than Prot with a 1H and shield. So would I, as a level 19 Arms Warrior using a 2H sword, be able to tank Deadmines/SFK just fine? I guess same goes for other dungeons before 60.

I would like to tank for all these folks that are spamming General looking for a tank, but I don't wanna hop in there and fuck everything up because I misunderstood something I saw on the forums.

Don't let their ignorance fool you. Use a 1h and shield. They think their slow auto attack damage is gonna hold agro and it isn't. You will just take 10 % more damage not having a shield.

You can be in any spec while taking 5 mans while leveling.

Bow Pull > Then Blood rage after you bow pull. Then LoS.

Thunderclap swap to Def.

Spam Sunder.

Revenge > Shield Block > Revenge in that order.

That is all.

That pretty much covers it. In Vanilla I didn't switch to prot until lvl 58 and I had no issues with 5mans.

2h tanking isn't a good idea unless you vastly outlevel/outgear the content and can just generate enough aggro to hold threat while doing your normal cleave DPS rotation on pulls. Any spec with sword and board is fine if you know what you're doing and aren't in shit gear, even for most 60 content.

That's a good point. I knew plenty of tanks that were mostly arms back in the day, they only had enough points in prot for the extra threat. And I'm talking raid tanking. Being heavy defense just makes it easier.

You can tank any dungeon as arms if you have a good 1H and shield (though I don't think it's a good idea to MT UBRS as arms). I recommend you put points into deflection for an extra 5% parry chance and points into tactical mastery so you can stance dance without losing all of your rage.

Whoever said that tanking with a 2H is a good idea was either trolling or just retarded.

Edit: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LAhxbAbo0uV is the build my warrior has at 47.
