Using Slam while leveling

After a bit of frustration with going from dual wield to 2h with my Whirlwind weapon, I decided to try out Slam again, and found it...rather effective. Instead of the painful 3.6 second weapon swings, Slam's only got a 1.5 second cast, leading to much faster hits.

It does get pushed back by melee damage which is a bit annoying, but even with pushback, Slam is still faster than a 3.6 melee swing. In general, I'm finding Slam to be much better than Heroic Strike.

Is it good to use Slam like this while soloing? And is Improved Slam worth it too?

It's been discussed a few times if you dig through old threads. It's much more rage efficient than heroic strike and since it's not normalised 5/5 imp slam can potentially be more efficient than WW with a slow 2h.

Avoiding pushback can be tough since you have to keep track of two swing timers and you also wont find much rage to utilise it in the first place once you spec into BT.

Doesn't Slam replace your regular melee swing, though? At least, that's how it seems to behave; after Slam lands, my swing timer resets.

Hmm, yeah, in general I'm finding Slam extremely useful for soloing/leveling. My typical rotation is:

Charge -> initial melee swing -> sit down to proc Enrage -> 2nd melee swing -> by now I have 30 rage, so 2x Slam

And from there, the mob is usually either dead (big crits!) or around 20-30% health, and easily finished off with another melee swing -> Execute.

yes, slam resets your swing timer which is why you should aim to use it right after a white hit. A swing timer addon will help with this

i meant two timers as in your own swing timer and your enemy's swing timer.

Eh, most of the time I don't care about enemy swing timer. Even with pushback, Slam is still faster than a 3.6 swing speed.
