solo tanking General Drak UBRS when SHTF

hey guys!

I'm usually taking undergeared folks or new tanks for bwl attunements and shield runs, and have a question for you guys..

So usually things are fine and dandy up to the point of General D, and sometimes an offtank dies for whatever reasons (conflag, healers) and we don't have a druid.

When I get conflagged, whoever have aggro generally are smart enough to kite general for a few seconds, but then sometimes they don't have the kiting skills, or they kite generals into healers/mages and G.D flamed them to death.

Is there an addon that shows when general D will be doing his next conflag? is there an alcove where I can LOS his conflag? Does priest shield helps against his conflag stuns?

Or what do you do in these situations?

I dont think a priest shield will remove the stun but it will mitigate alot of the damage. Bigwigs (might) have timers for conflag but I am not sure. When ever I solo-tank him, I simply try to time my last stand for the 1st conflag and shieldwall for the 2nd conflag, and hopefully the boss will be dead by the 3rd.

storfan how does your group deal with the general running towards whoever have the 2nd highest threat, when you are doing the self-incinerate disco dance?

There must be something wrong with my feenix version of bigwigs...it doesn't show general Drak's abilities on mine but works fine inside MC and BWL..I'll download nost's pack and see how it goes..

Pray basically. If it is a rogue it can evasion tank and then vanish, hunters can kite etc. Tanking all of UBRS alone isnt a great idea really.

Not at all, but you know how it it sometimes at the general..offtank couldn't get enough aggro and ate one healer, down to 1 healer healing both tanks, so offtank dies when he gets conflag.

It doesn't happen a lot, but like you said, at that stage we just pray and go with what we have.

Okay rather than answer the question of how to deal, ask how can tbe fight be managed better to prevent this.

let's assume your group has taken care of the adds and we are on Drak only.

(no add on shows a timer)

Drak enters room, only the first tank approaches him. Melee stay in front of healers, OT stay will melee. Ranged can dps. He will conflag very quickly when first engaged and you have to remember the huge square on the ground will damage other people which is why only the tank was in.

So tank is conflagged, he runs towards the healers and healers have no prob healing through conflag damage cauae only 1 person took damage from it.

Second tank can taunt, challenge shout, mocking blow drak and tank.him for a moment with melee. As soon as the first tank is unconflagged, he needs to taunt the boss back and take him to the save zone (where he ate the first conflag).

Essentally the first tank eats every conflag away from group. Melee dps only with second tank.

This fight is a mini razorgore with out the LoS needed.

It's not that bad when your geared with the exception of drak.

But pretty much, you get conflagged, next in aggro either runs away or dies and then drak comes back to you. As long as the healers can keep you up, you can continue fighting with generally 1 dps death per conflag.

He never said solo tank. The OP mentions if the OT dies due to something stupid or from conflag.

If anybody is dead due to a conflag, it is because healers were having to heal other dps/healers at the time and couldn't keep up.

This shouldn't happen if you follow my strat.

Thank you very much for your strat Undertanker, it's actually the first time I've read of this particular approach to drak, and I'm going to give it a try next time!
