Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I would like to know if anyone can confirm how crushing blows work exactly on this server, or in Vanilla WoW in general.

I didn't start playing WoW seriously until the Burning Crusade, when I became very familiar with the critical hit/crushing blow mechanics and the combat table. My problem is that, in regards to Vanilla WoW, I have seen some people claiming that the game mechanics are different from the 102.4% combined avoidance that pushed crushing blows off of the combat table.

I read the tanking guide by Armilus stickied here on the warrior forums and it seems to agree with how I thought crushing blows work, but some people are also claiming that in Vanilla 420 defense is a "soft cap" that will eliminate crushing blows. Everyone agrees that 440 defense eliminates critical hits, which is in line with the 5.6% crit reduction that I am familiar with, but why would crushing blows be so different?

Was there some major combat mechanics change between Vanilla WoW and TBC? Which of these methods is the correct one for crushing blow immunity? Are they both correct? Are neither of them correct?

There is no crushing blow soft cap relating to def rating.

This is just the amount of def they are comfortable with having while using + hit gear and gave it a stupid fancy name.

I can have 500 def and shit get crushed if not using shield block, same if i only had 300 def, as long as my parry + dodge + block is combined for over 28 percent.

Dont let people confuse you.

Don't forget "miss" on the table.

Anyways you are basically immune to crushing blows during each charge of shield block, with deflection and shield spec you can be naked with a shield and have 300 defense.

The combat table works just like you think it does.

To sum it up, just spec into improved shield block and deflection, keep shield block up, and you will be immune to crushing blows as long as shield block is up.
