Shouts not generating threat?

Shouts not generating threat?

by Kyrios0Zero » Fri Mar 20, 2015 2:13 am

I'm doing RFD right now and it seems like my battle/demo shouts are causing zero threat. The non-elite boar adds, the gong spiders, the skeletons before Mord. All of them would completely ignore me if I didn't directly attack/sunder/revenge or use challenging shout. Last time I tanked in SM I had no problems doing AoE tanking.

Looks like they fixed the insane aggro generation of bs. It was trivial to tank multiples by just spamming bs, but I think they may have adjusted it too far as in vanilla bs would cause a small amount of threat but currently seems to be none or very little.

Glad for the change, now warriors have to actually work to hold threat on extras. Just needs a little tweaking imo to get it where it should be.

The current version is supposed to give an threat amount that is divided by the number of affected creatures.
It means the threat can be very light, almost unnoticeable when used in a pack of creatures.
However, the threat amount should be normal when the shout affects only one creature.
If there is a problem with it, please confirm :)

Does this include demoralizing shout as well?

I am pretty sure demo shout should not be divided and apply ~43 threat on each mob affected. Proof is old videos showing warriors kiting adds on razorgore, this would not be possible if demo shout threat was divided by the number of mobs. (I don't have time to look them up atm)

2:05 - warrior runs by kiting legionaires
3:13 - large pack of legionaires all being debuffed, video is crap quality but looks like it could be demo shout
3:24 - same warrior debuffs a pile of legionaires again
3:34-3:38 - can see a warrior spamming demo shout on pile of legionaires
4:33 - again, demo shout spam
4:54-4:58 - can clearly see he's spamming demo shout

I can't think of any other way a warrior could possibly kite this many legionaires without losing agro to healers.

coz you dont know the strat maybe !

when the channeling of the orb ended you use the AOE fireball that generate Tons of aggrro and spam Perçing howl + trap hunter ( earthbind totem) etc etc to kite them .... shout never generate very high amount of threat

Did you even watch the video? One warrior is obviously kiting all of the legionaires.

Are you suggesting that this warrior is somehow dropping agro on a giant pack of legionaires long enough to use the orb?

I agree that demo shout never generated a very high amount of threat.

Healing agro is divided among all of the mobs in combat. On razorgore that is a shit load of mobs. If demo shout caused 43 threat divided among a shit load of mobs then it would be impossible for a warrior to kite as many mobs as is shown in this video. If demo shout's tiny tiny tiny little bit of threat was NOT divided among all the mobs affected and instead applied to each one, then it is possible because of the healing threat being divided.

In damn near every other situation, demo shout is still completely useless for threat, as it should be.

Depends at what point in Vanilla they are trying to replicate I guess. Battle shout agro was insane for awhile in vanilla until after the first couple nef kills then they nerfed BS agro and it was better to demo shout but it generated alot less threat. Still it generated enough threat that fading priests etc wouldnt get agro while healing over the person spamming demo shout.

We used demo should as our only threat building ability while mages aoe'd adds on Nefarian. I don't know the mechanics behind the spell, but if that's not possible to do now because of the reworking making the spell less important in packs, then it's been nerfed too much. =)
