How to tank many mobs

How to tank many mobs

by i3ryk » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:23 am

Guys i got problem to keep aggro on many mobs (3+). if i focus on main target, rest will go on heal, if ill try to focus on all mobs, main target will go on dpses. cleave/changing targets isnt enuff. it wouldnt be a problem if dps w8 for my agro, but they never w8 as we all know. i usually charge in, bloodrage, thunderclap
->def stance, cleave/shouts but still cant keep mobs on me. any tips how to be better tank? and even shouts generate enuff agro dat its worth to use them as aggro makers?
PS. would be nice if some give me best build for tanking instances, im new to vanilla

I just try to put one sunder on all targets as fast as possible, when this is done, the main target is probably hitting a dps, so I taunt it, and then keep aggroing that, and put a few spare sunders on the rest.

Tab cleaves, use your GCDs on revenge > shield bash > sunder armor in order of threat per rage. Focus on building a little bit of aggro on the ones not DPSed by melee so that healer is safe. After that you can start taunting off the overaggroing rogue.

Also if your an engineer when people are making force reactive disks i'd grab two of those for tanking big groups.

Tell DPS to wait, if they don't listen kick them and find new ones. There are lots of damagers and not all of them are retarded. Then aggro wouldn't be a problem as you write.

Why two? Does it have an internal cooldown on the proccs?

Tab-->Sunder-->Tab-->Sunder-->Tab-->Sunder-->Tab-->Sunder--> rinse and repeat. Also use revenge when ever it procs as it gives a SHIT-TON of threat. And ofcourse taunt if any of the mobs break off from you. When you get good at this you can also combine this with demoshout etc but tab-->sunder is the core.

Threatwise cleave and thunderclap is bad and basically a waste of rage.

For every time it does it's ability it loses durability. Often times for group runs there's plenty of durability but there's a possibility of the durability running out as well. I think that's what he's talking about.

While we are on the subject of engineering. Grenades, Dynamites and bombs also makes aoe-tanking ALOT easier.

While lvling, if you are arms this is made easy in the 40 to 60 bracket. Berseker rage, change to arms, charge and thunderclap. Use bloodrage, u should have 30 rage easy again, use sweeping strikes then swap to fury and do a whirlwind. All charges will be consumed of sweeping strikes and a lot of threat from damage. Swap to def stance, taunt main target, demo shout for more aoe aggro, then start the tab rotation the others above mention.
