viewtopic.php?f=6&t=559&p=4783&hilit=weapon+skill+cap#p4783Does anyone know of an addon that can break down white damage? I can't any addons that will break it down in vanilla, otherwise I'd test it myself!
It does
.
Unless it changed recently or something, which I see no reason for
.
IF some one has proof of this, I'd like to see this. But basicly it's not blizzlike then, your focus for weaponskill is the mitigation of the glancing blow damage penalty. That ends at 310.
As far as I know, Nostalrius dev team used "Athan's" formula regarding Glancing Blows mitigation calculation (long story short : first 5 +Skill points extremely useful, next +5 quite good, last 5 not completely useless but almost, GB doing 95% normal damage at 310) :

here the source of this image as well as interesting discussions from around 2006 about Glancing Blows.
Basically, I think Athan's formula was chosen cause it made a bit more sense than the other assumptions
and was backed-up by solid empirical testing (
i.e. several thousands of swings monitored with an AddOn rather than just people who "felt" stuff). And the results of this data collection actually made sense not only with the game itself (315 hard cap & shit), but also with other people's assumptions despite being a bit different (quite hard to "feel" a 5% average difference on melee swings).
By the way Oto, have you had the opportunity to check the Miss rate formula on Nostalrius ?
Is it 27% with a 300 Weapon Skill as it should (actually making the first +skill point even more useful lol) ?
I'm referring to :
If the difference between the mob's Defense Skill and your Weapon Skill is less than or equal to 10 then the formula for calculating your base miss rate against that mob is:
