"Good news, everyone!"

Update regarding Hit : just got a miss on a Special on Magmadar, using 2% hit on gear, 5% from talents (+7% total) and 300 weapon skill.

Didn't have to wait that long or to gather a huge sample, I just got "lucky" with that Miss, which proves +7% isn't enough to be capped on special abilities on a raid boss if you only sit at 300 WS. Even if it's not a 100% proof, it tends to prove that the 27% base miss rate formula is working properly on Nostalrius.

Ironfoe!?

by Sfactor » Fri Jul 31, 2015 12:37 am

Just picked up an ironfoe from BRD. Wondering why this isn't listed as a BIS. I know you lose out on talents with a mace in pve so what's a good build around this weapon. Is it best with a fast dagger oh. Will having a fast oh sword be useful and still do combat sword build? Hard to find much info on this wep even a proc % right now would be nice to know. Anything helps thanks!

You just found that out? :roll:
You could've just asked about the hitcap, anyone would have told you it is so (yes, empirical tests were already performed on Nostalrius).

Well, I did (cf. previous page), and nobody but Oto replied (who said he didn't carry out reliable tests).

Doesn't weapon skill continue to reduce dodge, parry, and miss chance past the 310 soft cap? Why is that not worth pursuing?

Most of the time it's not worth getting past 310 because you have to gimp yourself a little bit when equipping a +Skill item (there aren't so many of them, most are optimal only because of the +Skill etc.).

Oto, I just saw that you included 2/3 points in Ruthlessness in your 15/31/5 template. What are you opinion guys about this?

I kinda think 2/2 Murder would be more optimal (provided it applies to the target ofc), Combat Dagger spec basically never uses any other finisher than SnD, and it takes 30s to build up 5 CP for a 30s SnD.

I don't really see the point in getting more CP since you don't actually use them : getting 5 CP right when SnD ends or a few seconds before that doesn't change anything damage-wise, since it's our only finisher.

Of course, I'm ignoring the begining of a fight, where you don't use 5 CP SnD and when an extra CP is welcome.

The only assumptions that come to my mind in favor of 2/3 Ruthlessness in a 15/31/5 build would be :
- Taking into account the beginning of a fight with non-5 CP SnD & shit to start ;

- Preventing a little downtime in SnD since BS can be dodged, which can lead to a cycle > 30s to build 5 CP to refresh SnD ;

- Using AR allows the rogue to use other finishers than SnD, which cause 2/3 Ruthlessness to be actually useful.

However, none of these assumptions seem to justify the loss of the +2% all damage from Murder.

Have I overlooked something?

Any thought, anyone?

Wow, actually its my fault. I just made a mistake with the spec there, since i just clicked the talentpoints in as fast as i could, when the old "wowprovider-talents-website" went down.

The actual spec includes Murder ofc, Ruthlessness has absolutly no value for Daggerspec.

Sorry for that mistake and thanks for finding it.
