Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

When I did the poison quest in the Barrens, I killed the elite mob at the top of the tower in the sludge fen. Instead of having to unlock the chest for the final quest item, the elite mob dropped it for me. For some reason, I can't even click on the chest at the top of the tower to level my lockpicking. I tried also the tower in westfall but I can't click on that chest also.

I tried searching the bug tracker for this but found nothing (I might have not searched enough). Is there any other way for me to level my lockpicking? Or is this bug has a fix for this?

Only thing I can think off is did you make sure to buy the "thieves tools" before setting off?

I already do. I can open without any problems any chests that I pick pocket from mobs or that I find in dungeons. It's really just the chest on top of the tower in the sludge fen that I can't even click on.

Nvm, I found a workaround for this. All I need is to click the lockpicking ability first then I can click on the chest.
