Does Viper stinging a druid in animal form work?

I know they can be viper stung while shifted, but does it actually drain mana when they don't have a mana bar? I'm not sure what blizzlike was for this, but the last Vanilla server I played on it didn't drain mana from druids in animal forms.

It cannot drain something you dont have in bear/cat, and it does not.

Target has to have a mana bar. So it works on human and cheetah form.

Course you can still use their animal form to your advantage:
Scare beast, then hit them with viper as soon as they shift out.

thats odd. You could Feedback manadrain on druids in form, back in the days. I assumed i would be the same here.
