Imp aspect of the hawk and BM leveling

My personal opinions...

I don't use Hawk unless I'm in an instance or fighting elites. Otherwise I'm in Cheetah or Monkey if I'm forced to melee.

As a Troll I have berserking, which will not only increases my ranged attack speed but also my melee attack speed. On top of that Rapid Fire. So I don't really feel like Hawk is necessary to spec into unless it's for raiding and I want the passive benefit.

There has never been a *single* moment for me where I was like "hmm if hawk would of proc'd there I wouldn't have died".

If there's an "oh shit" moment happening...it's generally me being forced into melee range and when that happens...neither talents helps you at all, and they both just feel like filler. And if you're in melee range for whatever reason...you need to be in Monkey...so you're not even using Hawk.

Where the extra pet health has helped me is with my ability to solo elites. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal...but ultimately this is why I choose to spec into the pet health. For example I solo'd Rock'Alim (that elite in Thousand Needles) at level 31. My pet died but I was able to down the elite *just* after that, and I was never forced into melee.

If you're good at pet management...you can send your pet to attack any adds and pull the aggro with Growl, allowing you get back into ranged while your pet can take a few extra hits.

It would have made alot more sense for Blizzard to put Improved Aspect of the Money in the first tier, seeing as that's the first aspect you get. I bet you'd see ALOT more Hunters running that 5/5 to open up tier 2.

Little increase in dps > little increase in pet health.
Health is hardly ever useful, while some dps is almost always handy. I'm level 22 and it's useful talent, with increased mob killing time it will just get better.

I agree that the extra DPS is more useful in every situation where you can stay in ranged, and your pet isn't your tank. But once you start getting into more difficult leveling zones...mobs start to deploy CC to your pet and then come toward you...putting you into melee.

I've simply found that, while leveling, the extra pet health has more utility which to me equated to more survivability. It allows me to level with a cat (for higher dps) and gives the cat just a slightly more tanky feel. I can chain pull more often without having to mend or bandage the pet. Remember that it's a bonus to the overall health...not just the pet's stamina.

Now if Hawk was a 10% chance to proc instead of just 5% I think I take Hawk all day errryyy day.

Ultimately I think it's simply a matter of personal preference.

If your pet is cc'd as you describe, what difference would it be if it had the health or not? It's cc'd

not sure if you lads are trolling, but the situation you are not in ranged situation is close to 1%, I never resort to melee unless pvp forces me, in PvE the npc to force you to be in melee has to be something like 50% slow, thus meaning, why did you let the mob apply it, and WHY NOT TO KITE IT! Yay! enjoy being hunter, abuse as much as you can from your kiting ability, Aspect of the Hawk for Presidency.
3%pet hp vs 1% chance to get 30% AS, Faster AS mean less kiting!(thus fast killing) more hp on pet means more downtime when healing! cheers.

PS: I don't let my pet tank, I let him dps! Who's a good dog! He's the good dog! I rather have extra dps that is not getting molested via the super kiting kit hunters have.
