CC-heavy build. Comments please.

Part challenge, part boredom, part proving a point to a friend, I am interested in a hunter build that strives to be the richest source of CC for any team.

Build: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cZVyo0tZfVVbMhhx

Essentially survival's penchant for long lasting, hard to resist traps was approached as main point of it, with entrapment providing a convenient secondary perk in the case of multiple target pulls. The melee aspect of survival (parrying, counterattack, deterrence) were skipped to favour CC talents. Only improved wing clip, for its emergency CC aspect was taken. The other talents were assigned to marksman for some generic ranged dps efficiency (obviously sacrificing ranged weapon spec, trueshot aura, as well as extra damage on serpent sting).

A doubt that assaults me is. Is Wyvern Sting a better source of CC compared to scatter shot (the last point of my talent build that can be moved around). While wyvern provides an extra source of starter CC (it'd have to be the immediate second target to attack due the 12 sec duration), scatter shot allowing to be cast in combat could be a lifesaver in the case of a broken cc. I go back and forth between the 2.

Thanks for entertaining this idea.

Hello, I use this build now cause I'm low geared :

https://en.nostalrius.org/talents/hunte ... 1010300000

When I'll get more agi on stuff I'll use this :

https://en.nostalrius.org/talents/hunte ... 2010303150

Well, that depends of your gameplay after all.
Bye !

SS > Wyvern because of the cooldown alone

You can use it 4x before the wyvern cooldown is back up. Also, it is a life saver if a mage is in your dead zone and you're rooted

Think I agree with you, reason why I have scatter shot in the build I posted. Thanks :)

Remove all from Improved Hunters Mark and reduce points in Efficiency (1/5) to get:

5/5 Improved concussive
3/3 Hawk Eye

I second, Valestaz's Survival build. I've played this a lot on live. Clever traps and Trap Mastery aren't very valuable in my opinion.

I agree, and not getting the increased attack range (Hawk Eye) is bad too
