The Pet and Raiding

I have a question: is it necessary to have the highest possible dps pet to raid even the lowest level stuff? None of the 'good' DPS pets catch my eye, save for the ZG raptor, but that's not even in the game yet. I'm dreading having to have some stupid cat or wolf next to me for four straight hours, especially if I have to camp Lupos.

You use a Worg from LBRS in raids because of the furious howl buff. Your pet will die too often to be a dps tool so you sit it next to yourself and use it as a buffer. If the fight has no aoe that can hit your pet then you can send it in but you'd use the wolf anyway.

You can also use a wind serpent. Simply bind lighting to multishot or w/e and have it shoot and come back. That way it always stays at range.
