Obviously not. The patch fix says Viper Sting will show how much mana you gain. So it takes their mana and gives it to you. Pretty obvious.

So you think an ability that is spammable, drains 1100 mana, and is able to be cast on multiple targets should give you mana...why? Find a video that corroborates your evidence. Id say I'd wait but I know you won't find one

Finally, a PvP video from retail Nov 2006. From 4:11-4:19, a hunter uses viper sting on a mage and gains 0 mana despite a full 8 second duration. Note the combat log during viper sting.
