Revive pet - why? Seems like a waste of 2 points

Revive pet - why? Seems like a waste of 2 points

by toolshed » Wed May 06, 2015 12:15 am

Every PvE build I see has 2 points into Revite Pet and yet it seems to be rather worthless compared to increasing the tanking abilities of the pet or my dps as a ranged attacker.

The only situation I can think of that really uses it is a situation where you are soloing, and cannot rez without agroing a mob. Now with revive pet, I guess you could just start fighting right away while someone who doesn't have revive pet would be forced to re-clear the camp.

Are there any other situations? Am I missing something on why every PvE build has this talent?

Then play without it and you'll learn to understand why.

Any way that we could get a constructive answer as to why Improved Revive Pet is worth 2 talent points?

Thanks

It's just how it is man. Nothing's gonna change. It's always been 2 talent points, and it's blizzlike (you probably hate that answer).

It takes forever to cast, and all of your mana. Even out of combat it sucks to res. 2/2 revive pet makes it feel like no big deal comparatively. So as others said, try playing with it and without it, you'll see.

Pve wise your pet is going to be dying a lot, usually healers won't heal your pet so any kind of damage your pet takes is usually going to kill it. If you're going that deep into the BM (assuming you're putting 20 points into it) you can either go this:
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#cE
or this
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#ce0M

First one gives you 6% more health on your pet, second one cuts 6 seconds out of the cast time(making it 4 seconds), 40% mana cost (depends on your race but it's usually a 700 mana reduction on the spell) and instead of 15% health when revived it's 45%, so basically half health. Like turbonado said, it's basically a combat res for your pet.

The reason that's the only 2 talent point combinations is because all the other talents are worthless pve wise. Improved Eyes of the Beast is worthless in any aspect of the game, Improved Aspect of the Monkey is extremely situational, and Thick Hide is not going to do anything if your fragile dps pet is getting physically hit.
