Hunter Bug Compilation (Constructive)

This thread will aim to be a strictly informative one that constructively compiles confirmed hunter bugs. Bugs will be split into three categories: Confirmed Bugs (With evidence), Confirmed Bugs(Evidence pending) (Complete evidence unavailable), and Suspected Bugs(More information needed).

Confirmed Bugs will be posted when there is 100% irrefutable proof that something is not working properly, which entails a screenshot with reference to the correctly working version or one that is mathematically self-evident (EG - Arcane shot says it will deal 115 damage, and is dealing 84 damage).

If we can keep this thread clean and constructive, it should increase the overall awareness of issues involving the hunter class, and be conducive to expediting the rate at which they receive attention and fixes. If we do this properly, it may receive a sticky in the future.

I will take the liberty of keeping a close eye on this thread, updating the bug categories as is necessary. Let's get started.

Edit: I will also be attempting to grade the severity of the bugs on a scale of 1-5. A 1 meaning that the bug is a minor inconvenience, a 5 meaning that the bug is heavily impacting all players and should be marked as high priority.

Confirmed Bugs (Evidence Available)

[Pet Mechanic] - Underwater Pathing (Bug Severity 4/5)

Issue: Pets have several issues when trying to attack targets underwater. If your pet is on land and target is in water, pet will not pursue whatsoever.

[Talent] - Beast Mastery - Pathfinding (Bug Severity = 1/5)

Issue: With 1/2 points, tooltip accurately updates to reflect that new speed is 33% up from 30%. With 2/2 points, tooptip reverts back to 30%. Tooltip should accurately reflect the movement speed increase at 36%

[Pet Mechanic] - Inability to send pet on enemy hunter that is in Feign Death. (Bug Severity = 2/5)

Issue: If enemy hunter is feigning death, pet can not be sent on that target. If pet is on target as they feign death, pet returns to owner and can't be sent back to hunter until they release from feign death.

Confirmed Bugs (Evidence Pending)


[Pet Mechanic] - Lupos - Damage (Bug Severity = 2/5)

Issue: Currently, Lupos shadow damage attacks are being mitigated by BOTH armor and shadow resist. Lupos damage should bypass armor.

In addition, the unresisted attack hits for 107, which is well below the minimum damage in the pet stat sheet, which proves that the attack is also mitigated by armor. http://www.wowwiki.com/Lupos This is NOT just an issue with Lupos himself, but any creature whose melee attacks deal magic damage. Scorching Elemental and Dust Stormer are other examples, their damage is from an elemental source and should bypass armor.

[Pet Mechanic] - Speed reduction shared with owner. (Bug Severity = 5/5)

Issue: Hunter pets are sharing speed modifiers with their owners. If owner is slowed OR has increased speed from any source, pet will have faster or slower accordingly.

References/Evidence: Turn on Aspect of the Cheetah and notice your pet gains the 30% run speed.

[Talent] - Survival - Counterattack (Bug Severity = 2/5)

Issue: Counterattack should root target in place for 5 seconds. Currently, the debuff is applied but the target retains full movement/mobility.

References/Evidence: Pending



Suspected/Miscellaneous Bugs (More information needed)

[Spell Mechanic] - Serpent Sting/Arcane Shot

Issue: These abilities are showing as "Resisted" instead of "Miss" when they fail to hit. This raises the question that they may be effected by spell hit and not ranged hit. At the very least, the combat text is inaccurate.

Evidence/References: Pending

[Pet Mechanic] - Innate Resists/Chase Speed

Issue: Currently, pets do not come with variant chase speeds. Chase speeds were removed in 1.08. Currently the servers core resides somewhere between 1.04 and 1.12, so whether or not this is intended is unclear.

**EDIT** Link to patch 1.03 notes shows that pets coming with innate resist was removed, however chase speeds were not removed until 1.08.

great post, please add the pet movement speed bug to the confirmed list, when slowed your pet moves at the same speed as the character.. for example: you get dazed, pet starts moving at dazed speed as well without being touched and has trouble chasing after things

Added :) i'll try and replicate it myself, but it sounds like a self-evident bug. also, i'll be looking through these forums as often as i can to make sure that I keep all of the relevant bugs in here. I encourage people to post hunter bugs here, i'll look into all of them.

About the frenzy : 2/1.3 = 1.538 -> the frenzy is correct.
and you might want to add getting dazed by dots while having Cheetah/Pack

Counter attack in the survival tree is not immobilizing players or mobs. I am able to see the debuff on a player and they can still move around freely.

Really? That's pretty big pvp dampener. Wish I could test some of these abilities without having to respec.. =p will update counterattack soon if you have tested it multiple times.

[Talent] - Pathfinding

Issue: with 1 point in talent Pathfinding the tooltip from "Aspect of the Cheetah" and the buff is showing 33% movement speed, with 2 points in the talent it is showing up as 30%. So either tooltip is only broken or also the movement speed.

References/Evidence: needs to be tested (race between 2 hunters, 1 point - 33% vs 2 points - 36%)
