The best hunter race?

sadly the gun spec gives you only a little extra hit less then 05% and you are capped at 8% anyway...

Gun spec (+5 skill) gives you 2% hit vs anything 3 levels above your lvl (basicly reduces gap between their defense skill and your weapon skill). Mostly usefull in PVE (bosses are considerd lvl 63). So as dwarf or trol you only need to hit 6% cap while using your race favored weapon (guns, bows).

FD meld and then watch your BM pet solo casters for the lulz can't be beat!

So it sounds like NE's are a more action oriented PvP race. There are lots of options for using Meld to get the jump on people or avoid fights you don't want to be in.

Dwarfs are more reaction oriented for when that rogue jumps you.

That's one way to look at it, but night elves are also superior while questing, because you'll inevitably come up against Horde while you're out there, and your meld can prevent ganks very, very easily. Also, if you AFK very often, like me, Shadowmeld is a godsend.

Quick question related to Shadowmeld: If your pet is a cat, can you turn Prowl on and now you're both invisible?

It's 0.6 hit for 1 skillpoint(3% for 5 skill) until reducing the difference to be lesser than 10 skill points, aswell, it's 9% to be capped, (based on retail, it will probably be like 8.6% over here)

Best in slot, meaning the best item you could have equipped. None of the best ranged weapons are guns. Right now it's Bloodseeker (crossbow) for preraid, Rhok'delar (bow) once you're raiding and with the release of BWL it will be Ashjre'thul (crossbow) all the way to Naxxramas.
