What are hunters really good for?

I run with a group of high school friends and we do instances together. I stopped playing my rogue and rerolled hunter for the in-combat CC. Rogues just are so limited by cooldowns that their reliable in-combat CC comes about every 5 minutes.

With my hunter, I can control the entire pull a lot better. Double trap + FD every 30 seconds is pretty overpowered and gives you the best in-combat CC in the game outside of polymorph

They are good for playing non generic fury warr/combat rogue like 90% of the bads on every server who say how mediocre hunters are when themselves are getting shit on by the 2-3 actual skilled melees on the server.

I started on the server last week basically, started with a hunter. I've always been a Warrior when I started playing back in Wrath or some kind of melee like a DK. But I wanted a pet to tank the dmg for me in vanilla since I know leveling is difficult. But by reading hunter info I think I'll like the class, shits on all the Warrios/Rogues as people keep saying, AND the class is actually fun to play. I made a hunter in MoP but classic hunter is fun so far, TONS different than live, but that's a good thing not a bad thing.

My alt whenever I do get the change to make it might be between a Paladin/Lock(Mage)/Rogue. Haven't decided, but most likely the I'll be leveling this character 100% with a friend and never solo. So idk maybe a mage more than a lock, but still not sure about the other two, if he goes warrior or something maybe I'll play a holy paladin but not sure.
