Hunter vs hunter

What do? I usually get wrecked 1v1 against other hunters unless I somehow get lucky.. I don't think it's my gear at all. Is it because I'm using a cat and they're using a bear or something tanky and slow? I'm level 29 and a nelf, but I have a 49 orc hunter as well.. Same issue.

fear the pet, profit use FD to interrupt some casts use serpent as the bonus dps in 1v1 scenario is the most unless you can drain him in less than 2 vipers. and well, um treat him like PvE object. xD

Been a while, but assuming you have the main things for pvp, like scatter and stuff, I would see the best option playing out something like :

Scatter > FD > Trap Hunter > Fear Pet > Viper Sting hunter in the trap > Mark / Flare on trap (only if against nelf mostly) > Setup for a Aimed/MS combo. From here, his pet is probably going to be coming back soon, but he should be down quite a bit of mana & hp. You can probably just kite him down or just keep him from scatter trapping you as much as possible, as putting a 2nd sting on them usual at that level drains them to near zero.

Later, it really comes down to who opens first, but that's with a lot of PvP. Getting an opener AS+MS crit is pretty devastating.

mana drain breaks traps + why should not the other hunter just scatter you and trap, Why would you let the hunter come/go to him?
Your strategy is flawed.
Engineering stuff helps you a lot aswell. You can fish the other hunter into fearing pet, then you use dash/dive and retrieve your pet so it breaks.
Killing other hunters comes from interrupting the other, not trying to trap him. Use the land, if the other hunter is worse than you in tactic he will die.
And remember if you are being hunted upon, Aspect of the Beast is your friend. Luring into traps won't work on seasoned hunters but still you can fish some upon the weak willed one's.
Then if you are sure he is full BM lvl 40-50 be happy and even you can kite the hunter if you got MM talent Hawk Eye.
For Bestial Wrath there is one thing to do, Run, a lot of hunters use the sprint pet abilities on automatic cast so look at it and try to get as far away as you can then FD > Shadowmeld if you can, and keep running as the pet movement boost is over, 18 seconds of unmitigable dmg from pet is not nice, do not eat it straight in your face. If the pet is on you and you cant do anything else, don't panic and use Aspect of da Monkeh! and pray to lord and saviour RNGesus, do not try to cast aimed when something is eating your face.
And keep range from the other hunter so he can't scatter, when you see him doing cheetah use rank 1 arc shot, you should always have the mana for that one, and, please, Do not use conclussive shot on not moving targets unless it's talented to the brim and THERE is really nothing to use except that. Still I find random chance on spell to proc not really working well with the strategy you have to fight different classes, it only screws you up in the end.

Actually, I always win in melee vs another hunter :P You mentioned not to keep dash on constant use?? Why is that? I see no reason to not get my pet into combat asap? I'm also confused as you said to bait scare beast and retrieve pet. Are you trying to tell me to fear their pet, feign death and trap the other hunter? :o

well control over your pet > basic pet AI, to retrieve your pet is to see other hunter hands glowing in shadow thus meaning 'shit he wants to fear my pet,' Trapping other hunter won't work if he knows what you up to same why shouldn't he trap you then, you must think about what he is going to do, it's the basic of all pvp fights reading ppl might be hard, but best is to learn to play as all the other classes 1st that make you problem in pvp, then playing a hunter and you have freebies HK's.
Simple, if you are BM GO HAM FOR FACE NO TIME TO CC! JUST SEND PET TO EAT FACE AND SUPPORT,(going melee is a good idea aswell as you can windclip to score your pet fulltime of molesting time) if you are MM/Surv you need to think before you shoot.

As orc Hunter, just scatter/trap, fear pet, AS+MS, and go in and put his/her face to the axe, cuz I'm an orc. Orcs always axe elf to the face. Blood Fury + Arcanite Reaper + Savage Strikes Raptor Strike finish.

Imp. Wing clip, deterrence, freeze trap/entrapment options.

Mana drains shouldn't be breaking traps. I would agree things like a mana burn from a priest would, since it does actual damage to the player, but a non damage DoT shouldn't be putting people out of the traps. Unless you thought I meant serpent sting.

Mana drains break traps since ever, don't know where you got that mana drain is not offensive thing and should not be considered a CC break.
It always broke any CC and always will, hence vipersting frost trap/polymorph would be stupidly broken tactic for any mana user.
