Fast vs slow weapon for hunter?

I read that slow weapons somehow do more damage than the faster shooting ones

but don't the faster shooting ones interrupt more since they shoot more? Wouldn't you still do more damage as a hunter with a fast bow by doing 2x autoshot a second vs 1 autoshot a second with a slow ass gun?
