Imp aspect of the hawk and BM leveling

Currently leveling mid 20s as bm. I assume imp aoth is better with a fast weapon since it will proc more regularly, but the downsides are more missile resuppply runs and lower multi/aimed shot damage. Definitely want the slower weapon for pvp, but for leveling it seems a faster weapon is superior, at least before aimed shot. Any thoughts?

I tried Imp Aspect of the hawk for a while (level 20-30ish) but ditched it as the proc rate is ridiculously low and it always seemed to proc just as the mob died - and this was using fast 1.8 and 1.9 speed weapons :(

The 2 points I had in Imp Aspect of Hawk were better spent in Imp revive pet and/or Imp pathfinding:

Row 1: 5/5 Endurance Training.
Row 2: 3/3 Thick Hide, 2/2 Imp revive pet.
Row 3: Fill the whole row up.
Row 4: 5/5 Ferocity
Row 5: Intimidation, 2/2 Bestial discipline
Row 6: 4/5 Frenzy
Then Row 7: BIG RED PET TIME!

Even with 5 points, it rarely procs, and more often than not, it procced when the mob was almost dead.

Skip it and just stay in Cheetah all the time.

As for weapon speeds, IIRC it doesn't really matter while you're leveling. The reason everyone says "slow weapon" is mostly for Aimed Shot, because if you use a fast weapon, you lose tons of autoshots when you use Aimed Shot. That and, slower weapons use less ammo for the same damage.

Also, you shouldn't be putting any points into MM until you're 31 points in BM. Aimed Shot is nice, but sucks for soloing because 99% of the time, it pulls aggro off your pet. This is what I leveled with, and found it very easy:

Level 20

Level 30

Level 40

Level 50

Level 60

I know it's personal preference, but I like putting points in Improved Aspect of the Monkey. Unless I'm traveling or in a group, I'm normally in AotM at all times. This gives you a really good dodge rating; and this is a PvP server...

imp aspect of the hawk is pretty much useless.

Imp aspect of the hawk is usefull at the end of the leveling, at levels 50-60, when every mob is long to kill, and you can proc it during the mob (and not just at the end). So you can invest points in at about lvl 45.

It aint that useful but pet hp aint that useful either.

More damage (even if little - it adds up) makes you kill stuff quicker so choice is clear. With 5 points and those fast leveling weps uptime is not that bad. If you chain pull it also doesnt matter if it procs on last hit anyway.

15% pet HP is very much useful. Not having to heal your pet as much is a pretty big reduction in downtime.

1-40/45, I'd definitely skip Imp Hawk, because you kill things pretty quickly. Once you get a mount however, Pathfinding becomes less useful, and mobs take longer to kill at 45+, so you can spec Imp Hawk again.

Eh, from my experience its a little bit of damage VS a little bit of surivability. And while leveling i dont really get those "oh shit if my pet had 15% more hp i would have definitiely survived this" moments. Its mostly smooth sailing with little or no pet damage at all, so pet hp is irrelevant, or oh shit i pulled 5 mobs what now. And little pet hp wont help there anyway. While more damage will help all the time.

Point was, i prefer to take all possible damage talents first, before i worry about utility or defense. ymmv
