Does the AP here apply to ranged attacks? Nobody in World seemed to know.

Attack power usually means both.
Warri buff shout gives you meele attack power.
Hunter aspect of the hawk gives you ranged attack power.

So if it is just for meele/ranged it should say so

Yeah, I know that, but this is vanilla and there are always weird exceptions to the rule.

Wasn't sure if "X AP while fighting ____" applies to only melee attacks or not, seeing as it's a melee weapon.

How does that affix even work, anyways? Does it just detect which attacks are hitting Beast enemies and increase the attack power during the calculation for those hits?

Prob just detecting what the target of your attacks is.
