Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I've been checking out a lot of streams and it seems like only a maximum of two hunters are brought to raid to tranq shot and give buffs. The class seem really weak damage wise judging by the dps meters I've seen on the streams.

Will it be really difficult to get into raids as a hunter? How are they in PvP compared to PvE?

I didn't play vanilla much at max level, but I'm looking for a dps class (preferably ranged) to do gold farming and raiding that is also pretty solid in PvP.

Play whatever you find the most fun, if you're good at ur class u wont have trouble finding a guild

Try to get into an up-and-coming guild that doesn't have that mindset

If u want to make good dps u have to be tryhard but even then u won't beat tryhard rogues and warriors. If you manage to surround urself with slackers tho and remain tryhard u have chance to be top 5 dps in raid and top on some bosses that rly suck for melees. As for slots for hunters, limited, u dont want to invest in many hunters, as for ranged dps u can boost casters dmg tenfold with nightfall and shadow weaving. Hunters bring shitton of utlility tho if played well, u can kite when shit hits the fan to save the day u can off-CC to protect healers also u're the safest dps for progression raids as u have a threat hard reset.

Guilds bring whatever is available. It doesn't have to do with a class's damage. You see more Rogues than Hunters simply because a fuckton more people are playing Rogues over Hunters. People like Rogue because they don't have to deal with mana, arrows, pets, or the BS Hunter leaf quest you'll camp for a month. If you loot something like a Perdition's blade, that's it, you got the weapon. You don't have to go around the world fighting a zerg of other people for 4 different rare spawns to use it. Every leaf demon is camped 24 7, usually by whole groups of players waiting for them to spawn. Worse is when players despawn it off you because they'd rather waste the spawn than let you have it and move on. Rogues don't have to deal with any of this shit. So it's no surprise Rogues greatly outnumber Hunters on the server.

There's a couple of elite guilds that actually have their hunter equip nightfall and just wingclip spam, apparently the uptime is incredible

That's a waste of the Hunter, unless you just can't get 1 whole Warrior or Shaman out of 40 people to swing it. My guild runs an Enhancement Shaman for this, which makes a hell of lot more sense since they actually do decent damage with windfury procs.

You don't get. The 1 or 2 hunters that you bring for tranq shot can't be replaced by a shaman or any other class.

The best thing to do if you want to raid as a hunter in a progressive raiding guild is to have an equivalently geared warlock or other class that they can bring you in as. As far as MC, BWL, and ZG I wouldn't see an issue in getting into a raiding guild as strictly a hunter. Sadly, after BWL, hunters drop off exteremely compared to casters. Chances of getting spot for AQ or Naxx are slim if you have no alt.

Thanks Vido. I am one of those hunters. It's actually a rotation macro in my guide but wingclip has the highest priority so essentially yeah it is winglclip spam but your other melee abilities get off when they are up also.

Recently rehauled my guide and organized it a lot more. Gonna add a few more sections but its borderline done.

Also as far as my guild having me equip it. I farmed the Nightfall as soon as I hit 60 and Mogrul made it for me. Server first Hunter Nightfall. 2 weeks after BWL release. (I hit 60 shortly after release with this in mind the entire time).
