Hunter Pet Abilities (?)

Hello, quick few questions on Vanilla pet abilities since my memory is foggy.

So I tamed a cat, and it came with Cower. Guides on this forum have said they have Dash, Bite, Claw and Prowl.

Do they learn this abilities over time? Are they at the pet trainer? I trained growl at the pet trainer and the ability is knowere to be found. I'm rather confused.

Any help/tips are welcome, thanks. c:

You have to tame certain pets to learn those spells, ie tame a STV tiger for Dash rank 1, use that spell until you learn it, then you can teach it to your current pet.

Growl, stam, armour, resistances you learn at the trainer.

Once you've done that, open up your Spell Book, on the General Tab look for Beast Training (looks like a slingshot). Open that up, train Growl or whatever you've learned to your pet. GL.

Most mobs don't come with more than 1 or 2 abilities. You tame them, get the abilities off them, then junk them. They aren't worth keeping over a pet you already have loyalty ranks on unless you want to switch skins. Tame them for 5m, pillage their spells, then throw them away. The stables can hold the pet you want to keep.

Btw, do not use Bite+Claw at the same time. Claw has no CD, so there's no real benefit to having both when they share the same energy bar. When you have both, Bite is just wasting skill points. You should only slot Bite when the pet type cannot use Claw. While it is more energy efficient; the CD bottlenecks the pet's burst damage potential and then again on energy regen. The regens too quickly and can't dump fast enough. Always take Claw if the pet can use it, and only Bite if it cannot.
