Pet attack speed

Pet attack speed

by Voodoom » Sun Dec 07, 2014 12:54 am

Any informations about pet attack speed on Nostalrius ? Are they normalized or do they have their right values ?
It's a pretty big deal for hunters as some pets have very fast attack speed which are pain in the ass for casters.

Here is some data about it : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/223 ... tiary.html

I think it's going to depend on whether or not this normalization happened before BC. If they're going with Classic values, the pets might not be equal. I don't remember if this was changed before BC or not.

It happened during BC, at the 2.0.3 patch. I'm asking because some servers don't care about it at all, even if it's a crucial thing for hunters.

Broken Tooth has 'broken' in his name for a reason. :)

I'll be glad to know that this is fixed. It was pretty damn stupid and OP to have some pets with faster speeds. 1.0 combined with Frenzy made it almost impossible for players to cast anything at all. It also discouraged any other pet type. If you PvPed, you went with the fastest speed, end of story. Some pets also ran faster than normal, which was comparable to a permanent Sprint that stacked with whatever other speed you gave them. Hunters were all kinds of messed up in Classic.

Here's another one. Will our Hunters auto switch between ranged and melee when the target runs up to us? In Classic, it didn't do this. In BC, when they fixed it, it did. Before the fix, right clicking made you go into melee mode even at range when you wanted to shoot. While shooting, when the target got too close, you would just stop and stand there like an idiot while it hits you, without swinging back until you told your character to use a strike. Are these going to be fixed too?

Drain, you realize by "fixed", they mean that it is fixed from being normalized to 2.0 on all pets like most privates have it.
Nostalrius will have it blizzlike, so it won't be normalized, meaning, yes, everyone will go for Broken Tooth for 1.00 attack speed, and yes, casters will cry rivers if they don't CC it or kill it.
But then again, no1 specs BM in pvp, and it's not hard to deal with pets in vanilla. They die pretty quickly and are easily cc'd - especially by druid hibernate and the pet fear engineering bombs (which also works on druid's shapeshifting, pro tip)

Hmm. I think you misunderstood there.
The attackspeed is fixed : it means that pets have their own attack speed, and some have a 1.0 one yes.
It's one of Vanilla's particularity such as PoM-Pyro or Seduce Soul-fire one-shot. You may find it retarded, but it's Blizzlike. :p
But pet move speed has been normalized.

Right-clicking an enemy activates melee-attack, whatever the range is. But it's not a huge issue when you have half a brain.

I would like to know if some of these "particular" things are in place:

http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18135

~Lupos did shadow damage on melee attacks instead of physical damage.
~Snarler had 100 of each resist.
~Fire Rocs had 115 fire resist.
~Searing Rocs had 240 fire resist.
~Frostwolves, Longtooth Runners, Takk the Leaper, and King Bangalash had fast pursuit speeds and could chase down epic mounts.
~Durotar Tigers, Snow Leopards, and Mazzranache were very slow runners.
~Gretheer, a rare spider in Silithus, used to have the model and skin of a tallstrider, which was awesome.
~Most pets with mana bars in the wild had "caster stats" and where weaker than most other pets. Wind serpents, dragonhawks, and a few named spiders where infamous for this. (Also in BC)
~Silithid Protector, a now retired crab pet, used to do an emote when summoned that was removed rather quickly once that was discovered.
~Arikara would be summoned in a poof of smoke.
~Gezzarak also had a lightning bolt animation when summoned. (BC)

I also suspect there are other peculiarities for "pets" out there...just a matter to find them out.
