Why would you even consider going melee ? Parry is good only if you want to provoke a CA spell but if you are in melee you are in trouble anyway against casters especially.
I've seen some good raptor strikes though with good 2Handers...

My guess is a dedicated build against melee classes in pvp ... assuming one doesn't neglect their ranged stats much either. Perhaps an owl pet for the debuff too. I can't see a purpose in pve.

Melee is viable in PVE endgame with Nightfall. Wingclip has good uptime, Trueshot Aura, Tranq Shot.

The why is up to the OP to answer, maybe he's bored with ranged hunter, maybe he's interested in challenging himself with something new. If you can help out for that, then it's good.
