How do Pet Skills work?

Hello,

Can anyone quickly explain how pet skills work? For example, if I tame a beast that already knows claw rank #2, how can I become allowed to teach that ability to another beast that doesn't have claw rank #2?

Hi there,

When you tamed a pet and lvl him up, he will gains x amount training points which you can spend on upgrading his spells or eventually learn him new spells. So how do you get those new spells. You go to the beast trainer (which can be found in Stormwind/Darnassus/Ironforge/Orgrimmar/Undercity/Thunderbluff) and train the skills. However when you bought those skills it is not immediately applied to your pet. And that where you pet training skills comes in.

So how do you pet learn those spells. By the spell named Beast Training which can be found at the beast mastery tab.

to learn the skills of an tamed pet you just have to walk around with it for a while.
For me it just took some minutes.

Manslaughter, to achieve what you're trying to do you need to tame a pet that "naturally" comes with the ability you want.

For example, you want "Claw Rank2"...then you need to tame a pet that will have "Claw Rank2" as soon as tamed (Beast Lore ability will tell you this...or install an addon for it).
This is just the first part anyway.
Now, you need to use this pet (the one with Claw2), till you "learn" it.
It will happen "randomly" while you fight. I think every time the pet casts the ability you're trying to learn, there is a roll and if you win, you will learn it (a yellow message will appear in your chatframe with something like: "You learned Claw Rank2").
At this point you can abandon your "temporary" pet and get back the one you stabled.
Now, you can open up "Beast Training" from your spellbook and you will find "Claw2" ready to teach.
