Hunter pets - timeline

Hi guys. New to the hunter pet and was curious if anyone could lend me some of their theory crafting on which pet to start out with at 10, and what pets I should go for while leveling up the ranks. Much appreciated!

Raptor. Then stick to the raptor. Then grab broken tooth and level it with you, but for now, raptor.

What benefits will the raptor have over a cat?

Raptors are general broken atm, they do more damage than they should for their attack speed. For general leveling just go to Darkshore and get a bear. Not good in pvp or dungeons but one of the better tank pets you can get, plus it eats just about anything. If you are wanting to use one pet for all around get a wolf, they are ok at most things but not great. Most people will tell you to get a wolf named Lupos due to it dealing shadow damage instead of physical damage which in reality is a bug as all pets posts 1.9 dealt physical damage off a base attack speed of 2.0. This seems not always the case with EMU servers.

raptor for leveling, i wouldnt bother camping broken tooth its only really required for pvp, way too many people looking for it right now also... wolf at 60 for pve

I had a boar and it sucked. Now I'm leveling a scorpid and the difference in damage is noticeable (can't say it's less tanky either). Gonna try Raptor next.

Why did boar suck? Seems like the majority of lowbie hunters r running with boar because of charge.

So wolf with FR for pve/raiding and raptor for lvling (I used a cat, was nice)
What for PvP? Cat, boar (charge), serpent, gorilla?

Just as an update. Using "The Rake" from mulgore - rare cat, lvl 10. 1 hour spawn, and has a 1.2 attack speed. Fastest until you can get broken tooth in the badlands (1.0). Hope this helps someone, would recommend the rake.
