Hunters and HoJ

Hunters and HoJ

by Skorn » Sat Apr 11, 2015 8:02 pm

Looking for feedback from the community on this controversial item.

HoJ - Trinket
2% Chance on Melee Hit - Gain 1 Extra Attack
+20 Attack Power

The reason I want to discuss this item is because I know how broken it is for melee, so as a hunter I will never roll against a melee on it. That being said, I've started stating in LFG Messages that I will be rolling on it (so when I roll people don't have a fit).

I am under the impression that this item, despite its near worthless proc for Hunter, is still pre-raid BiS BASED SOLELY ON THE ATTACK POWER till DM releases or they add the level 50 class quests in.

Obviously Blackhands breadth is equipped as well, people message me foaming at the mouth with claims like "blackhands is bis noob" etc etc like they forget you have 2 trinkets. This leaves the 2nd slot open for either Afrasza's or HoJ.

This has been the equivalent of trying to tell an entire convention of anti-vaccers that Vaccinations are important.

So I seem to have some options:

1. Forget even bothering with this trinket and wait for DM
2. Stop saying I'll roll on it and just roll on it when it drops, preventing the harassment from people who saw my message and reverted to their 13 year old selves. But I ruin the day of some poor rogue/warrior.
3. Continue my current actions and never get invited to BRD / Find a rare group / Run my own group
4. Someone here proves me wrong and I move along to something else.

The thing is... its bis for u now until dm
But its bis melee until aq 40..
just get some random trinket an wait for dm.
Also as horde u have hinterland elite troll q trinket...
Again im getting your point... but its still a dick move

On the other hand
my own hunter story
New on server, bis pre raid
Being casual r guild starting mc
Doing aq 20 pug
x bow drops
I tell them its bis dmg for hunter until bwl chrom
Melees go apeshit cuz 1 hit i tell them sillithus quest x bow (perfect poison),
or satyrs bow dm, rogue almost foaming.
Raidleader does dps check.
I get x bow

Perfectly understandable. My point for adding that I wanted to roll in LFG was to hopefully find a group that didn't need the HoJ. I've run BRD before and it dropped by I passed, im not an asshole lol.

But yea, I guess ill just wait till DM.

Related to your story, when I raided in classic that xbow dropped, I wasn't going to get it because I had the lowest dkp anyway but the hunter that was suppose to get it lost it to a rogue. Then when that sword dropped (Chromatically Tempered blade?) and a hunter bid on it the leader laughed and said something along the lines of "Ha, I'm not giving you an item to be a stat stick, this is clearly for melee". Guild disbanded 2 weeks later lol.

Technically theres nothing wrong with rolling on it aslong as you tell people before hand that you will roll on it and that no others really need it

I would prob take it aswell if everybody was greeding on it . But I would not take it before a rogue who needed it .

its kinda same situation as Drake Fang Talisman http://db.valkyrie-wow.org/?item=19406
Binds when picked up
Unique
Trinket
Requires Level 60
Equip: +56 Attack Power.
Equip: Improves your chance to hit by 2%.
Equip: Increases your chance to dodge an attack by 1%.

I will only take it after all melee who wants it has it

The HoJ thing is completely understandable, as I'd take the raw AP over the 6mp5 any day.
Yet I too agree it would be a complete waste since this is like that one broken item for any melee and its only good for us for like, until DM releases.

If you tell them beforehand that you roll on it and you get a group that agrees with it, go for it.
But don't like "ninja" it in normal groups.
I think making your own Emp Run groups there might be most advisable. Maybe get a friend tank or something and run with them until you all got it.

DM isn't too far off. Plenty of Emp runs going though so maybe join a few. Personally I wouldn't roll on HoJ or Dal'Rend over rogues, but it is BiS currently for hunters and there's nothing to say you shouldn't. Sure it's BiS for them til AQ, but they can do more runs as well. I guess it just depends how important it is to you.

Just a note: The horde q in the Hinterlands isn't implemented yet.

From a melee's perspective:

Is 20 AP really worth the flame? Wouldn't MP5 also be great for an extra Multi Shot? Wouldn't this extra Multishot (or 2, 3, 4 whatever) make up for it?

Maybe im biased but I wouldn't never roll on it as a hunter. I would also never roll on a Crossbow as a rogue if there's a hunter, even if it has more AP than my current weapon.
