Professions for Healer

Professions for Healer

What professions should I use, for endgame healing?

Currently Herb/Alch, which I've heard people say is good for gold and making your own consumables, but I'm not sure how effective herbalism on a holy priest will be, considering that you often have to kill mobs to get to herb nodes.

Looking over the AH, herbs are dirt cheap, at least at lower levels. Was able to boost my Alch from 30 up to 100 with like...60 silver worth of herbs. Should I just drop herb and pick up tailoring or enchanting?

Tailoring is a must for Truefaith Vestments which are by far the BiS until AQ/Naxx for healing. If you are shadow you will want tailoring for the bloodvine set from zg.

Personally I just want to heal so I got to 300 tailoring, made my truefaith, then dropped it for ench/herb.

Yep, went ahead and dropped herb in favor of tailoring; already up to 130 or so with the cloth that I had saved up in the bank. Kinda neat being on a very populated server; the mats for the various blue tailoring gear are relatively cheap. Crafted me a pair of Spider silk boots for only ~60s worth of mats + the cloth I already had.

Personally, i run Ench/Tailor.
Its a match made in heaven, beacuse when you level up tailoring you can often make greens that you can disenchant and level up ench.

If i didnt run Tailoring i would probably swap them both to Alch/Herb, good way to make money.

Why would you want BV for a spriest? You don't need hit, crit from set bonus is almost useless too.

Pretty sure you need some hit, and the overall dmg and crit from bloodvine is ridiculous for how much you invest. It's not BiS for shadow but its up there and very easy to acquire.

You need 6% hit to cap as shadow. Bloodvine is an easy way to get there.

6 more needed with no gear, yes. But then it's down to 4 with ZG enchants and down to 2 with ZG enchants + tear (which would be the to-get stuff when ZG is around for BV recipes, since ZG comes after BWL). Could even skip +hit altogether at that point. You'll have too much hit at the expense of damage or other goodies if you go full BV, it seems to me...

Access to Bloodvine is easier than access to Tear. No doubt if you have Tear, you don't need it, but that's assuming you have access to BiS gear.
