Shadow priest PVP question

Shadow priest PVP question

by Colezz » Tue May 26, 2015 10:41 am

So i'm new to priest and i suck real bad in pvp. One thing im never sure about is what to prioritize? if this makes sense. An example say im coming against a mage with his ice armor on, should i dot him first? dispel armor first? silence immediately? i really dont know whats best. also should i put up my shield at the begginign of every fight or not?

Thanks

I'm not exactly the best pvp'er out there, so take it for what it is. But I know this; Mana Burn is the bane of every low/mid level caster. Priests in general should use it more often - that and dispels. Utility is there for a reason. Also don't disregard wanding - often it's a war on mana. :)

This is what I do and it works for me:
1. Shield up as early as possible to diminish that shield-debuff. Against warriors this causes them to not generate rage from attacks.
2. Dispel TWICE to remove any buffs. Once is enough against classes that have no classbuffs (rogues for example).
3. SW:P

After this it becomes more about countering enemy's actions:

MELEE: Keep dot(s) up on them and focus on keeping Inner Fire and Shield up and let the dot burn them. Use downranked fear (to save mana) only to mess them up (there's no clear guidelines here, you just need to learn by trial and error when it's best to use fear). Use mindflay when they're at range and Mind Blast ONLY when you know you can get it off, otherwise concentrate on survival and let the dot(s) burn them down.

CASTERS: Again keep dot(s) on them and your shield up. Manaburn them when possible (it does almost as much dmg as Mind Blast). Use fear to interrupt casts and silence on their main school (for example lock a frost mage out of frost school). It's usually a fight for mana rather than dmg, because your heals beat theirs.

Other than that, just practice practice practice! ^^

Definately agree on dotting then surviving. Been doing a lot of wpvp since this post and have been getting better. Just one full dot I've noticed can take a mage below half health almost and have noticed the vast majority of then will counter sell my shadow school leaving me to heal free and watch them
DIE SLOwly. Different stun items are also super useful vs casters like can use grenade engi helm, sleep dust, so good for interrupt lock fears or mage poly
