Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

People keep telling me that killing rogues on a priest is "so easy", yet I seem to be completely unable to do so, even as Shadow.

I can't even seem to survive their initial stunlock. It's just 100-dead during that cheap shot and kidney shot. Or if I'm not dead, I'm usually sub-20% and die within seconds of leaving the stunlock.

And of course, since 100% of horde rogues are UD, fear is useless because it gets racial'd immediately. And even using Nifty Stopwatch doesn't work because they just pop sprint.

What the hell is one supposed to do? It seems utterly impossible to kill a rogue unless you engage them first. From a distance.

If you cant survive their initial stun-lock you need more stamina. Around 4000hp should be all right.

All of my gear is Int/Spirit stuff, for the most part. Greens and some 45-50 blues.

However, I got to rank2 today and received my PvP trinket, so I guess that will be a big help. Being able to trinket the kidney shot should give me a fighting chance to...not die instantly.

Indeed, if you didn't have the trinket and had just 2k6 HP with buffs, don't look further, it's just a matter of gear . With a few PvP items / blue items and shit you'll sit at 4k HP, and you'll be fine. Spriest are damn hard as a Rogue .

How do I go about getting PvP gear, anyways? I never did PvP on retail until like halfway through WOTLK, so I'm kinda clueless about the vanilla PvP system.

From what I can understand, just getting higher ranks unlocks access to buying pieces of gear per rank? As per this Wiki page:

Only thing that confuses me is that I have no idea how to determine how many "rating points" I have. I did a single AV on monday and got like 80 honor kills, that alone pushed me up to rank 2, from rank 1 with the blue bar maybe 40% filled.

You can't see the "Rank Points" you'll et next week, cause they depend on your standing and the total number of ranked players in your faction.

Long story short, the more Honor you do, the better your standing will be and the more your rank will progress .

The article you've linked goes into a more detailed explanation, so just read it with attention if you want to understand everything .

If you are raiding you'll get a few pieces of tier 1/2 which generally a fair amount of stamina.

If you do some PVP you'll get some stamina gear ( Sergeant's Cape, Master Sergeant's Insignia (same vendor you got the trinket from)) and then at rank 7 you'll be able to go inside the "officer" building and get your first blue PVP gear ( boots and gloves).

I have around 4k hp with my normal raiding gear with PW:Fortitude, but if you gear specifically for PVP you'll probably have a fair bit more.

Sorry, I didn't get a full set of epic pvp gear mailed to me when I dinged 60, like you apparently did?

As others have said, you need stamina and +100 hp enchants. If an item has 0 stamina on it, you probably should not be wearing it in pvp. You can get by with some jewelry without but your core pieces really need it.
